It is safe to start taking your placenta capsules immediately after receiving them. The hormones and nutrients present in the placenta can help your body recover from childbirth. Since the placenta is a blood-rich organ, the capsules are naturally high in iron and are easily absorbed by your body. It is recommended to use up your placenta capsules within the initial 6 weeks postpartum, as this is the time when your body benefits the most from it. For the first 6 weeks, you can store the capsules outside on the counter or in a cabinet for daily use. However, do not store them in the refrigerator as the moisture level is too high. If you have any remaining capsules after the initial 6 weeks, you can transfer them to your freezer in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag to maintain their freshness. You can consume the capsules directly from the freezer, there is no need to thaw them before taking them. Some women prefer to store their remaining capsules for later use, such as when their menstrual cycle returns or during menopause. However, there is no data available regarding the safety of long-term storage of desiccated placenta. It is reasonable to assume that the hormones will degrade over time, and there is no guarantee of potency.
SUGGESTED DAILY INTAKE FOR YOUR PLACENTA CAPSULES
Week 1: 2 capsules, 3 times a day
Week 2: 2 capsules, twice a day
Week 3: 1 capsule, twice daily
Weeks 4-6: 1 capsule daily
Please remember the following recommendations:
- Do not take more than 9 capsules in one day.
- It is best to take the capsules with a meal.
- It is important to pay attention to how your body reacts to the capsules, as you know yourself best. We can always adjust your intake up or down as needed.
- I am available to assist you at any time, so please reach out to me if you need any help.
- Do not store the capsules in your refrigerator, as it is a moist environment. You can keep them on your counter for up to 6 weeks. If you still have capsules remaining after that, store them in your freezer.
Do NOT consume placenta capsules during pregnancy.
HOW TO ADJUST YOUR INTAKE
If you're feeling good and balanced, it's best to continue with your current daily intake. Almost all of our clients, around 98%, have reported that this intake schedule works perfectly for them. However, if you're feeling a bit unbalanced or emotional, you can gradually increase your daily intake by one capsule at a time. Please note that you should not exceed 9 capsules per day.
If you are experiencing excessive energy, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, oversupply of breast milk, sensitivity to iron supplements, or mild headaches, it is recommended to reduce your daily intake or spread it out over time. In case you face any of these issues, please feel free to contact me for assistance in adjusting to a more suitable level for your needs.
If you find yourself feeling more energetic than usual in the evenings, try avoiding taking the capsules in the afternoon or evening. This should help reduce the unwanted increase in energy. Keep in mind that some women may be more sensitive to the hormones in the placenta. If you notice this is the case for you, try taking only one capsule with each meal.
a few key notes
Listening to your body and understanding how it responds to taking placenta capsules is crucial. You know your body best. If you need any guidance, I am always available and happy to assist you. Please do not consume more than 9 capsules per day. This recommendation is important because taking more won't completely ward off postpartum depression. If you are having serious struggles, please inform me so that we can find the appropriate assistance for you. Remember, you are not alone, and there is help available.
Weeks 1-6: Store your capsules on the counter or in a cabinet for daily use.
After week 6: Store in the freezer for longer-term usage. Do Not Refrigerate.
IF YOU GET A COLD, MILD FEVER OR MASTITIS
If you catch a cold while consuming your capsules, you can continue using them to observe how you feel. In case you don't notice any improvement, gradually reduce the number of capsules you are taking until you stop taking them completely in one day. For instance, if you are taking 2 capsules twice a day, take 2 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon, and none in the evening, then stop using them from the next day until you feel better. You may start taking the capsules again after you recover. If you develop fever or mastitis, you should immediately stop taking the capsules and follow the same process of tapering them down to zero in one day. Wait until the fever or mastitis subsides, and then resume taking your placenta capsules.
PLACENTA TINCTURE
Your placenta tincture has been prepared for you using Tito's Handmade vodka. Please swirl the contents once daily for six weeks before using the tincture. This will help to speed up the maceration process, though if you forget to do this, it will be fine if completely left alone. You do not need to strain the tincture unless you desire to. Keep the bottle in a cool and dark place like your cabinet and make sure that the bottle topper remains tightly closed. It is recommended that you use up your placenta capsules before you begin using the tincture. Your placenta tincture is not safe for use during pregnancy.
Adults: place 7-10 drops under the tongue and hold briefly, or simply mix drops in juice or water. Can be taken a few times daily, as needed. It is typically used for energy, transition, stress, hormone stabilization, and during menstrual cycles. Do NOT consume during pregnancy.
Babies (6 mo+): 3-5 drops mixed with breast milk, water, or juice. You can place the drops in hot water first to allow the alcohol to dissipate if you desire. You can also rub a drop or two directly on the baby’s gums to help with pain relief.
HERBAL LACTATION SUPPORT BLEND Capsules
Before you begin taking the herbal lactation support capsules, please wait until your milk supply has fully come in and stabilized. This will help you determine the usual amount of breast milk your body is producing before introducing anything new to your body.
This is a handcrafted organic herbal capsule that is specially designed to help lactating mothers increase and maintain their milk supply. The capsule contains a blend of organic herbs that are traditionally used as lactation aids. Along with supporting breastmilk production, this supplement also provides additional nutrients to nourish the body. It is an ideal choice for breastfeeding and/or pumping mothers who want to ensure their baby gets the best nutrition possible
I recommend taking two capsules, three times a day. If you don't notice any improvement within 72 hours, you can increase the dosage to three capsules, three times daily. However, please note that the effectiveness of the herbal combination may vary from person to person. It is also important to remember that these capsules are not safe for pregnant women.
POSTPARTUM HERBAL BATH
To prepare an herbal bath, start by bringing 2 quarts of water to a boil. Turn off the heat and place the mesh bag containing the herbal mixture into the pot. Cover the pot and let it steep for 30 minutes. Once done, discard the used herbs from the mesh bag and save the bag for future use. Add the liquid to your bath and enjoy a relaxing soak. If you have had a Cesarean Section, please avoid submerging yourself in a full bath until your care provider has cleared you to do so.
